Who Am I?

I am an avid runner and have been running since I was 15 years old. I began running low to medium distances while on my high school track team, running the 800 meter and 1600 meter races (I was a sub 5 miler and a 2 minute 800 runner). In addition to the track team, I also joined the cross country team. After high school I still wanted to run and decided to start doing road races. I have probably ran a couple hundred 5k races (16.29 PR)along with many 10k's as well. In 2009 I decided to step up my game and try to tackle my first marathon. I will be honest; the only reason I did this was because my father ran a few and I wanted to show him that I could do what he did. I trained poorly for my first one and regret it. If you are going to run a race, train like you want to win. I still continue to run marathons and other distances as well, and every race is a chance for me to better myself.
I started this blog to hopefully communicate with other runners and to shed any knowledge I may have about the sport that can help other runners. I believe running is the best sport and can be a great stress reliever. I encourage all runners to spread the word of our sport and show people why running is so good and why the community of runners has such great people. Random Friday: New Years Resolutions

Welcome to the first Random Friday of 2016. Hopefully 2016 will bring some good Random Friday's for us. So since it's a new year and everyone has their resolutions, I thought I would share with you mine. I also would like to share some things I am hoping we can leave in 2015 and not bring to 2016.

My Resolution: This year I want to be more dedicated. In the past few years I may have slacked a bit with training. I always set high goals and the only way I am going to hit those goals is to go hard all year. The days of me coming home from work and saying I am too tired wont cut it, and with a new job that sometimes can run late into the night there will be days I need to wake up early and make sure I get my workout in. One big goal for 2016 is losing a few pounds in order to gain some speed during my races. I need to really dedicate myself to eating better, and not saying "this one little snack won't matter." 2016 I need to be a new me basically.
There are some things I would love to leave behind in 2015. Things that just annoyed the shit out of me. Here are some things I think we should all agree on that don't need to come to 2016.

The Kardashians: Haven't we been put through enough with this dis functional family?  I am sick and tired of hearing about this whole family. We all have our own fucked up family members that we don't need to hear about yours. This family is everything that is wrong with our country. People more concerned about money and looking good rather than trying to help others.

Shortening words: One thing that really gets me is when I hear words like "Bae" and "Jelly".
Oh me and my bae are going out tonight. When I talk to another girl my wife gets all jelly. The word is babe and jealous you ignorant dicks. I understand we had some pretty stupid slang words when I grew up but it seems like the youth of today is so lazy that they can't even say a full word.

Reality Shows: What ever happened to a good old TV sitcom? It seems like every show that is on is a contest. I miss the old shows like "Married with children" and "Seinfeld". Every week you got a different story line and  no one got voted off or sent home.

Lastly everyone getting so damn butthurt: I have said this a million times. If you see something that bothers or offends you then ignore it. There is no reason every time a person gets upset they have to call for a whole war on society. That is life my friends. It's all of us fucked up people being able to live on this earth and try to make the best of a situation. Why cause waves when you don't have too?

What is your resolution and what would you like to be seen left behind in 2015?

Random Friday: Cheers for the kids

Is there one day of the year that you really look forward too that isn't a holiday? Well I do, and tomorrow just happens to be that day. It has become known as "Sausage Day" and the best way to describe it would be drinking for the kids.  Let me give you a little background of this whole event and why I enjoy it so much.
My father grew up in Swissvale, Pa. and at the time it was a blue collar town mostly made up steel mill workers and middle class families. After he and my mother married they decided to lay down their roots there. Since my father grew up there he knew most of the people that lived in the neighborhood, and since he was a commercial tire salesman most of them came to him when they needed tires. Growing up I would always hear "your dad is the tire man".  Like most adults my parents needed an escape from us kids, not that we were bad but some of the shit we did makes me shake my head. One spot they would go to was a small local bar by the name of Brushes. It was a corner bar that didn't have much to it. It was basically just the bar counter top and a few seats on the back wall. As I got older I would sometime stop in the bar on a Saturday afternoon to say hi to my dad and his friends as they would be watching the college football games. Once I turned 21 my father and my uncle took me to that same bar for some drinks.
As I  was growing up I became friends with a lot of my fathers friends kids. Most of us still are very close and talk everyday. It is kind of crazy to think our parents hung out and here we are hanging out like they did. As we all went separate ways to college and jobs, we still all somehow managed to stay around the Swissvale area. Soon we were all 21 and weekends would be hanging at the Boomerang Bar, under new ownership they changed the name. What was once our parents hang out had become ours, it was like a passing down of generations. The town though was starting to take a turn for the worst and more crimes were happening. Since most of us lived in walking distance to the bar we never thought much of it though. In fact I felt safe in there because we knew most of the people that would be going in an out.  As the neighborhood got worst most of us decided to move to other neighborhoods, but we still would go back to the Boomerang from time to time. As the years went by and the town got worst those frequent stops there soon came to an end. However there is still one day a year where we all round up and head down to the Boomerang. That one day is "Sausage Day". On this day the bar has a few different people make a shitload of hot sausage. You can come to the bar and have a sandwich or a couple. There is no cost for the sandwich, all they ask is that you leave a donation. You see all the money made that day is donated to Children's Hospital. The food money, the beer money, even the bar tenders donate their tips. What makes this day even better is this is one of the few times where all the generations get together and can throw a few back and tell stories about growing up in the area. The small bar will be packed from morning until close with people coming and going to donate. My friends and I tend to spend a good part of the day there. I don't want to say how long but put it this way most of us work that same amount of hours any given day of the week. Sausage Day has become a ritual for my friends. In the past it has gotten crazy, and the day ended with some of us face down on the bathroom floor or passing out another friends house. Whatever happens though we all like to say that we are doing this for the kids. When one friend can't make it we like to tell them it is their fault a kid wont get a surgery. Most of us don't want to be that guy so you just suck it up and cheers to the kids.

Sometimes you just have to lay down wherever and get some sleep, also notice how dirty my socks are. I think I was outside walking around for who knows what before I found the bathroom.........But good times were had by all.

Random Friday: A Change In Sports, Pt. 3

Since last week was a holiday I decided to skip random Friday. This week we are back at it and this will be the final post on a change in sports. So the first week I stated that I noticed a change in how kids played one sport in today's society as opposed to when I was younger and played multiple sports through out the year. From the comments it seemed most people around my age agreed with me that there was definitely a change in the sports, but it also seemed that if you wanted your kid to succeed you had to steer them into a single sport at a young age.  In my second post I interviewed a 15 year old field hockey player who plays year round for her school and multiple club teams. From the interview I learned that a child who only plays for their school would have very little chance of competing with his/her peers unless they too were putting in the time and effort.
So I guess this is my conclusion on my thoughts.  Like everything in society change is inevitable. What was once a year of playing multiples sports has now become a year of the same sport, seeing the same faces at games and tournaments. In the 80's and early 90's you didn't really have to think about a main sport until high school, now a days you have to think about your future at the age of 11 or 12. Let me rephrase that, your parent has to try and think about your future. For a person like myself it seems unfair, it seems like these kids are having a chance to play another sport ripped away from them. If you talk to a kid though today most of them will tell you that in order to compete this is a must. So now you are left with the decision do I play multiple sports and hope you are phenom at one or do your choose that one sport you felt you did a little better than the rest and make that your main sport. What is the outcome of all of this? you are hoping for a scholarship and if you are really lucky you are hoping for a career in sports. The odds of that happening though are very slim.
One fact pointed out to me was girls in sports are playing for a lot less than the guys. By this I mean there are more professional sports out there for men than there is for the ladies. As a man you are wanting to get a scholarship and turn it into a career and as a woman you are hoping for a scholarship so you can get a free education and land a good career that does not involve playing sports. The girl I interviewed pointed out an interesting point to me, given the chance a woman can succeed just as much as the guys. At first I didn't understand what she meant until she pointed out the UFC Ronda Rousey who recently just had one of the highest grossing fights in UFC history. Also the woman's world cup team who people seem to go nuts for. I then understand where she was going but I quickly pointed out the WNBA, which even though it does good it will never get the hype of the NBA. So yes woman may get the short end of the stick when it comes to sports, but we live in a society where people enjoy watching the toughest, fastest person which is usually the guy.
I guess I will leave you all by saying I am glad I got to grow up in the era I did. I got to play and enjoy multiple sports and never had to look at a sport as a career growing up. I do however respect kids who play sports today and are putting in the hard work year round to perfect their craft. It shows discipline and I would bet that most of those kids go on to succeed later in life, whether it be in their sport or in another career.

Random Friday: A Change In Sports pt.2

Continuing with our topic of kids and sports, this week I interviewed a co-workers daughter who plays field hockey year round and is the leading scorer 2 years in a row for her high school team. I was hoping to better understand the mind set of someone who was brought up to only play one sport as opposed to someone like me who grew up playing multiple sports.

1. Name, Age, Grade Level

Sarah Metzmaier         age:16            10th grade

2. At what age did you start playing field hockey?

11

3. At what age did you make field hockey your primary sport?

8th grade

4. Do you play any other sports?
No, but when I was younger I played volleyball, however I am very active on the water, with wake boarding and knee boarding in the summer

5. Do you play in any other leagues outside of school? If so how many?

Pittsburgh Venom Field Hockey club along with being a guest player on 2 others (TGT and Coyotes)

6. Do you feel there is more opportunities for boys in sports?

Yes, people look at boys as though they better, faster, and more athletic, however if given the opportunity, more often than not girls can do just as much.

7. Have you ever lied about the severity of an injury to keep playing?

Yes- for a broken finger, possible concussion, and knee injury

8. If you received a scholarship, would you choose the sport over a career? Example: schooling for a doctor or lawyer would interfere with practice

I would always choose a career over a sport

9. Do you think parents are too involved in sports?

Sometimes- they are always very supportive but sometimes that support causes a lot of pressure to do well.

10. What do you hope to get out of playing?

Friendship, opportunity, competition, and life skills ( learning to accept failure, and never give up)

11. Did you choose to play or did your parent’s steer you toward the sport?

My parents steered me into the sport after I tried several others and didn’t enjoy them.

12. Has playing interfered with any part of your life? Have you had to sacrifice anything?

Time with family( holidays and weekends) missing school for national tournaments

13. Do you ever regret not playing another sport?

No, by only playing field hockey I am able to commit all my time to it ( which is a lot) If I wanted to be at the same level in another sport I would have to sacrifice even more of my time.

14. Do you think a girl who only plays for her school has any chance of being competitive as opposed to a girl who plays year round?

I think a girl who only plays in HS has some chance of being competitive but in order to reach the next, faster, more skilled style of play she must practice outside of the HS season.

15. If you were to decide to quit playing today, how do you think you parents would react?

After the first shock, I think they would be supportive of my decisions and reasons( since I’d have to have a very good reason)

-Next week I will give you my final thoughts on this subject.

Random Friday: A Change In The Sports

This random Friday is going to have a continuation into next Friday. I am going to interview someone about the topic this week and get an insiders opinion, hopefully you will enjoy.

When I was growing up I had the opportunity to play many sports. In the fall I played soccer, and in the spring I played baseball. Let's just say baseball was not my sport, and by that I mean I flat out sucked. Soccer though was right up my alley, it was a sport that played to my strengths. I was fast and could run up and down the field for days without getting tired. I started by playing in the normal league and then moved up to the traveling team. I played soccer for 13 years until I was in high school and then had the tough decision to play soccer for school or join the cross country team, something I wanted to do for a while.  Most of my friends were like me, playing a different sport each season until we were in high school. Even in high school though most of us played at least 2 different sports, while some played 3. It was not uncommon for the football players to play football in the fall, basketball in the winter, and track in the spring. I was lucky because my sports, cross country and track were in two different seasons and the coach was the same for both.
Gone away are the days of a child getting to play multiple sports while growing up. Somewhere over the past 10-20 years kids were ripped there privilege to experience all the sports. It seems now a days a child can play a few sports at a really young age and then by the time they reach 11 or 12 they must choose which sport they want to play. I am going to use field hockey as my example because a co-worker has a daughter that plays and will be the person I interview.  At the age of 11 or 12 a child is usually pushed or decides to choose the sport he or she thinks they will play later in life. They not only play for the school but they begin playing in club leagues outside of the school. Now what happens if you decide to just play for the school you ask? Well think of it like this, lets use field hockey for the example. You have a girl who is playing year round against a girl who is playing a few months out of the year. It would be hard to compete when the girl who is playing year round is getting constant coaching and improving her game.
What is the price to pay though? well there is the monetary value that could cost upward in the thousands of dollars for the trips and tournaments you will have to pay for. Then you have the social price and having to miss out on weekend parties or other events going on. And what is the end result in all of this? A scholarship if your child is one of the few that actually get one. Then you have to ask yourself if you would of just saved the money you spent on tournaments and travel expenses would you of had the money to put your child through that same school?
I often ask myself do some of these kids really want to be playing that one sport so much or would they rather get to experience a variety of sports? Do the parents have more invested than the child? And do we put to much pressure on the child?   Over the next few weeks we will look more into this.

What are your thoughts?

Random Friday: We must obey!!!

Welcome to another random Friday. This week you may have seen a video that has been making the rounds on the web of an officer slam a young female student out of her seat. Like most big stories that seem to surface comes the comments from the public. You know these people, they are the ones that have no experience on the matter at hand, but give an opinion as if they are experts. In the recent video once again people are screaming "Fuck the police" and are up in arms about how cops abuse their powers. I am going to get real here, it's not the cops that are the problem. The problem is society and fear.

You see when I was young if I was bad my mother would use the classic line "I'm telling your father".  I don't know why that line worked, but most of the time if I was being bad that was all I needed to hear. My father not once ever laid a hand on me or one of my siblings but we had it in the back of our mind that he might. My grandfather would take his belt off and snap it to scare me if I was with him, and it worked. I feared that if I didn't shape up that I may get hit, and I know most of my friends had the same fear I had. As the years went and I got older I started to notice a change in the way people are disciplined. What was once a normal way of discipline started to be looked at as a way of child abuse. Someone decided that your way of discipline was wrong, and they had a better way. Children started to be told that if your parent hits you, you need to report it.
Now before I go any further let me just say I don't condone beating the shit out of your kid, but I don't see anything wrong with a little smack on the ass. A child needs to know that there is repercussions to their actions.
As these kids got older they realized that they didn't have to listen to their parents and then it trickled into their schooling. Why listen to the teacher when you can just make some shit up and get them fired. Soon it goes into their jobs and they are the assholes that show up late and have no care in the world if the job gets done the right way. Would you really expect these type of people to listen to an authority figure such as a cop when they have not had to listen to anyone with authority in their life? The sad fact of the matter is society has created this problem. It's not a black thing or a white thing its a change in the whole society. You want to know who the real people are to blame? It's the people who are in their 30's and 40's.  It's my generation that thought it would be a good idea an take that grit America was built on and turn it into a bunch of cry baby, entitled assholes. We have created a new generation of people that have been told if you don't like something just point the finger at the other person and take no responsibility.
I understand like in any job there is going to be those few people that don't do the job right and abuse their power, but you can't hold the other 98 percent responsible. If you treat a cop with respect and listen to him or her there is a great chance you will walk away with no problems. If you don't listen and talk back and make threats towards them, then there is a good chance you are going to have some problems.  In that recent video they show the cop toss the girl, but you don't see the girl disobey the teacher, the principal and then the officer. Now a cop has lost his job, and a girl will probably end up making money off of her disobedience for authority. Doesn't seem fair to me.

Here's To New Beginnings

My last post I came out and said that I wanted to change things up on this blog. I want to get back to the roots of why I started this, to help other runners out. As I did some thinking about ways I can help other runners, I thought there is no way I can do this on my own. So I am asking for everyone's help here.

I know a lot of us who comment on here are from Pittsburgh and we run a lot of the same local races. I also know that like myself a lot of us travel to do many other races. I am asking if you do a race out of state or do a race in our state that I have not ran, give us a recap. If you write one for your blog that is fine, just send me the link and after I have a few different race recap links to people's blogs I will do a post so people can see a few different races. If you don't have a blog and want to write up a recap and email it to me that is fine too. One thing I have learned is that listening to other runners is a great way to find out if a race is right for you. I think this will let all of us see different races from around the country and it might even spark interest in a race you may not even of thought of.

One thing I still plan on doing is my Random Friday posts. I know sometimes these post cause some controversy, but it is just me talking from my heart. Sometimes on Friday though I can't think of what I want to talk about so once again I ask for your help. If you have something on your mind and want to do a guest post on here, you have the floor to speak. Only rule is it can't deal with running. This is our one day on here where we get to give our minds a break from running.  If you are to shy and don't want to put your name out there on a post, shoot me an email and give me the topic and maybe I can take it and run with it.
You see this may be my blog but I feel like when we are all talking and getting involved, whether it be helping each other with running and training tips or just shooting the shit, the more input the better.

Hopefully I will be hearing from you
If you want to email me any idea's you can reach me at: byrne1324@yahoo.com

Random Friday: You Built What?

It has been long over due since I have written a Random Friday post. For anyone that is new to my blog this is where I get to discuss things that have nothing to do with running. It's the one day of the week that I talk about whatever is big on the internet or in the news, and this week we are talking about Ahmed Mohamed.
I am guessing you have probably heard about this young man Ahmed who brought a clock to school and was arrested because a teacher thought it was a bomb. Needless to say it was not a bomb, and now this kid Ahmed is like a damn celebrity. President Obama invited him to the White House. Mark Zuckerberg invited him to come to Facebook, he has received gifts from Microsoft and even a scholarship for being such an innovator. Not bad for a kid who made a clock. For the record this kid really didn't make a clock, he took apart a clock and then transferred the parts into a pencil case. I can tell you this much when I made a bong back in 9th grade and tried to pass it as potpourri holder I didn't get shit except an ear full from my parents and suspended. Where the hell was all those people to tell me how I was a go getter.  Anyway let me tell you what I think about this whole thing.  If you are one of those people up in arms about the teacher over reacting me and you are not on the same team. Kudo's to this teacher for doing their job. I don't have any kids but if I had a kid I would want a teacher who was worried when they saw something that could be suspicious. If this teacher wouldn't have said anything and that thing really was a bomb people would be up in arms saying this teacher didn't do their job. That teacher was in a you're damned if you do, you're damned if you don't position. Lets be serious too, the clock looked like a fucking bomb. If this kid was so damn smart he had to have known it looked like a bomb and may set off some red flags.
As far as the racially profiling. I am sorry to say this and I am sure a lot of you will disagree but in today's world we have the right to profile people. After 9/11 I can guarantee you almost every person who gets on a plane and see's a Muslim gets a bit worried. Are all Muslims bad, Nope but when most of the terrorist are Muslims then you are going to get profiled. I shave my head and do you know how many times I have been asked if I am a skinhead? A whole lot. That is people profiling me, and do I get mad? Nope, I understand why they might think that. For real though look at the picture of the clock, I look at that and see bomb. This may sound morbid and down right crazy but I honestly thought this sounds like someone was doing a "dry run". I mean just think you take something into a place and get an idea of how they react. If they don't pay attention then you are good to go for a real thing. Sounds crazy right? but you have no clue what goes on in anyone's minds these days. This is just me thinking out loud though and who the hell am I.

FRIDAY Randomness: Stupid is as stupid does

Welcome back to another Friday edition of random talking. This weak I am talking about stupidity. Last week was the 4th of July and I am sure you heard a few of the horror stories going around about people getting injured from fireworks. Not one but two NFL players were injured and in a different incident a man even died after shooting a mortar off his head. With these new incidents people are screaming for better firework laws and some people are even asking for the banning of fireworks all together.

Are you serious? Once again I feel like everyone has to be punished for the stupidity of a few people. The young man who lit the mortar on his head supposedly was just joking around and accidentally lit it. Anytime you handle something that can be dangerous you probably shouldn’t joke around, and you probably shouldn’t be drinking beer when you are playing with them. Don’t get me wrong here, I think that this is a tragedy, but I think this is something that could have easily been avoided. I am not the smartest person out but I am smart enough to know that you don’t stick a mortar on top of your head and light it. Was it the fireworks fault though? I think not, sure the firework is responsible for killing the man but it didn’t jump on his head and it didn’t light itself. You want to blame someone for this blame the person that did it. I know at least one of you reading this is thinking, Shaun if fireworks aren’t around then this won’t happen. I am not going to argue you on that, but that is the same shit people say about guns. If the guns aren’t on the street then people won’t be able to kill each other. Really?? I am pretty sure if I wanted to kill someone without using a gun I could figure out a way just using some household items. My point is quit pointing the finger at an object and start pointing the finger at the people who do these things. What’s next? Are we going to take cars off the road because people drive like assholes and cause accidents that kill people? If you don’t put yourself in a situation where you are at risk for bad things to happen you are better off. I understand that sometimes things can wrong and it isn’t the person’s fault, but that can happen with so many things. If you look at most accidents with the fireworks it is because the person in control was doing something wrong.

Listen in my 36 years on this earth my friends and I have done some really dumb things, some things so dumb I literally walked away thinking how we are still alive. If something would have went wrong and god forbid one of us died, you know whose fault it would have been? It would have been ours. It would have been because we were being stupid. True story here, when I was younger myself and a few friends had BB guns and decided to play war. We would shoot each other with the BB’s. I can remember one time my sister got in the line of fire and was shot in the head. I pleaded and bribed her not tell our parents.(Mom if you are reading this, don’t worry she ended up being fine) Looking back on it I am lucky one of us didn’t lose an eye or end up dead, but that was us being stupid. If you took the guns away from us we would have found another way to do something stupid.

I am interested to hear some thoughts on this.

Friday Randomness: Transracial???

I am going to be honest fellow readers, Friday’s are quickly becoming one of my favorite days to blog. It is the one day that we get to discuss things that aren’t running related. I have been pretty anxious to talk about the big story in the news this week, Rachel Dolezal the head of Spokane Washington chapter of the NAACP who lied about her race.

Where do I even begin with this whole thing? First I think I need to give her some kind of credit for pulling off one of the funniest deceptions ever, a white person running the NAACP. That is like a man being in charge of the National Organization for Woman. In all honesty though this lady is off her rocker if you ask me. First she played stupid when asked “Are you African American?” I may not be the brightest man out but I am pretty sure that is a yes or a no type of question, yet she answered with “I don’t understand the question.” This is isn’t rocket science lady this a simple question as to what color is your skin? Finally when she was outed by her white parents she used the excuse that she was Transracial, saying she always felt black as a child. She even went as far as saying when she would draw herself at the age of five she chose the brown crayon over the peach color. Fuck that means my whole life has been a lie and I am green, because I used to choose the green crayon over the peach. Let me go back to the word she used Transracial, which she brought up after saying she knew how Bruce Jenner felt, and she felt the same way just instead she was black trapped in a white person’s body. I am calling bullshit on this and here is why. The difference between Transgender and Transracial is biological make up. Your race has nothing to do with your biological make up. Bruce Jenner said he always felt that he was a girl from a young age, and if you talk to other transgender people they will say roughly the same thing. They always say something just didn’t feel right. Now my question is how in the hell do you know what a person feels like based on their skin color? For real though, a man is still a man and a woman is still a woman no matter what color they are. If you were born white and brought up never seeing or knowing a black person you would NEVER feel that you were black, because skin color is something you don’t feel. You would have to be around the lifestyle of that person and then you might say I fit in better with that color, but that doesn’t make you transracial, and it doesn’t make you that color. You might be born a guy though and never introduced to a woman and there is a chance you would still feel something is out of place with your body. Last point on this subject is until recently color couldn’t even be determined with a DNA test, and the most recent test out are only 50 percent accurate when identifying skin color.

You need more proof this lady needs to get some serious help? Who legit says “those people claiming to be my parents may not be because we never had a DNA test done.” Would someone please call this lady’s bluff and do a DNA test so we can all get a good laugh when it comes back that she is white. If I was her parents first I would ask where did we go wrong with this one, and secondly I would legit disown my kid for being that big of an asshole and saying something like that. Hey as far as I know my parents and I never had a DNA test done, but I am pretty sure that they are my parents. Don’t get me wrong sometimes I do question did I really come from this family, but I am not about to get on national TV and say my parents may not be mine. (I am pretty sure at some point my parents looked at me and said are we sure this asshole is ours) Here is the best kicker to all of this shit though that this lady is spewing. In 2002 she attended Howard University which is predominately a black school. She sued them because she felt that she was being discriminated against because of her skin color. So you’re white in college while you were suing the school, but after college you are black and fighting for black rights. Which is it? You can’t have the best of both worlds you are either one or the other, well unless you are bi-racial but that is beside the point.

Have you ever had that one friend that was white and only hung with black people, or was black and only hung with white people? The person usually has to first get accepted by the group and they realize that he or she is an alright person and they don’t judge based on skin color. Well I feel like this lady just found a loophole in the system and said fuck it I will just tan and change my appearance and say I am one of them. Clever as it may be it is still wrong!!! I feel like I am watching a really fucked up version of the movie White Chicks just the other way around. I mean technically isn’t what she did considered “black face”?

Let me hear your thoughts on this, do you think she really is Transracial?

Friday Randomness: Jenner

When I started these Friday random posts it started with big new in the internet. Some weeks were lacking news and I had to just talk whatever was on the mind. Well this week I don't think I have to tell you about the big news that damn near broke the internet, Caitlyn Jenner.

Who would of thought that one person could cause such an uproar. People have been debating all week over this lifestyle and Bruce's choice to become a woman. So I decided I would step in and let you all know where I stand on the matter, but before I go any further remember this is just my opinion it doesn't mean I am right or wrong, it's just what I think.

I can careless to be honest. If this is what he needed to do to be happy then I say to each their own. He claims he always felt like he was a woman trapped in a man's body and needed to transition to be truly happy. I am all for happiness, there is way to much hate and anger in the world so if this is what he needed to do then so be it.  Hey I can relate I am a Billionaire trapped in a Thousandaire's body, only problem is I haven't figured out how to transition to the Billionaire side of me. So many people were writing shit like this is a science experiment, or he is a freak. Ya I am sure someone would really do this as an experiment, come on really! Why is he a freak? because you don't agree or you wouldn't do it, who care's it isn't your body so why worry. Think about this for one second, people alter their body all the time because they aren't happy. A man who takes steroids is basically altering his body to look like something he didn't have. People get plastic surgery all the time to alter the way they look, and isn't make up changing your look? My point is we are looking way to far into this people. Unless you are one of her family members I just don't think we need to keep talking about it.

There is one issue I do have though with the whole Jenner thing. She is being rewarded the Arthur Ashe Award. I you are unfamiliar with this award let me explain it, this award is an ESPN award that goes to a person that displays bravery and courage. Most of the time it goes to a sports person but it can go to a person outside of sports. This is my problem with Caitlyn getting the award, I think she could be beneficial to young people who may be in the same situation as her, Yes it is brave for a person who was once the greatest athlete in his time to have to come out and say I have always felt like a woman, and I am changing into one. When I look at previous winners though I feel like there is more deserving people. I can think of 2 other people that were up for the award that are far more deserving than her, in my opinion. First was a soldier who lost an arm and leg in combat and now does marathons and other endurance races.( I am sorry I don't know his name) Here is a man who really is brave and risked his life day in and day out for our country. Second and the person I think really does deserve the award is Lauren Hill. Lauren passed away in April at the age of 19 from terminal brain cancer. Even though she had cancer she continued to persevere and play basketball for her college Mount St. Joseph. ESPN had the opportunity to use this young lady as way to inform more people about a disease that takes the lives of so many young people and instead decided for the second year in a row to choose something that is popular in the news right now. Last year they picked Michael Sam, the football who was the first one to come out as being gay. Once again kudo's to him for stepping up and coming out to the public, but in my opinion again I think there were people that could of got the award that deserved it just as much. Then again I am not on the committee that picks the winner so I guess they have their reasons.

Let me just say this last thing: we live in a society were everyone wants to point out things they don't like. People all of sudden think that there opinion is right and everyone else is wrong. We have become so quick to judge people, and put others down. People need to remember that most things you see on TV have very little effect on your life, Let people be happy with themselves, and try to find what makes you happy.
