Who Am I?

I am an avid runner and have been running since I was 15 years old. I began running low to medium distances while on my high school track team, running the 800 meter and 1600 meter races (I was a sub 5 miler and a 2 minute 800 runner). In addition to the track team, I also joined the cross country team. After high school I still wanted to run and decided to start doing road races. I have probably ran a couple hundred 5k races (16.29 PR)along with many 10k's as well. In 2009 I decided to step up my game and try to tackle my first marathon. I will be honest; the only reason I did this was because my father ran a few and I wanted to show him that I could do what he did. I trained poorly for my first one and regret it. If you are going to run a race, train like you want to win. I still continue to run marathons and other distances as well, and every race is a chance for me to better myself.
I started this blog to hopefully communicate with other runners and to shed any knowledge I may have about the sport that can help other runners. I believe running is the best sport and can be a great stress reliever. I encourage all runners to spread the word of our sport and show people why running is so good and why the community of runners has such great people. Here's To New Beginnings

My last post I came out and said that I wanted to change things up on this blog. I want to get back to the roots of why I started this, to help other runners out. As I did some thinking about ways I can help other runners, I thought there is no way I can do this on my own. So I am asking for everyone's help here.

I know a lot of us who comment on here are from Pittsburgh and we run a lot of the same local races. I also know that like myself a lot of us travel to do many other races. I am asking if you do a race out of state or do a race in our state that I have not ran, give us a recap. If you write one for your blog that is fine, just send me the link and after I have a few different race recap links to people's blogs I will do a post so people can see a few different races. If you don't have a blog and want to write up a recap and email it to me that is fine too. One thing I have learned is that listening to other runners is a great way to find out if a race is right for you. I think this will let all of us see different races from around the country and it might even spark interest in a race you may not even of thought of.

One thing I still plan on doing is my Random Friday posts. I know sometimes these post cause some controversy, but it is just me talking from my heart. Sometimes on Friday though I can't think of what I want to talk about so once again I ask for your help. If you have something on your mind and want to do a guest post on here, you have the floor to speak. Only rule is it can't deal with running. This is our one day on here where we get to give our minds a break from running.  If you are to shy and don't want to put your name out there on a post, shoot me an email and give me the topic and maybe I can take it and run with it.
You see this may be my blog but I feel like when we are all talking and getting involved, whether it be helping each other with running and training tips or just shooting the shit, the more input the better.

Hopefully I will be hearing from you
