Who Am I?

I am an avid runner and have been running since I was 15 years old. I began running low to medium distances while on my high school track team, running the 800 meter and 1600 meter races (I was a sub 5 miler and a 2 minute 800 runner). In addition to the track team, I also joined the cross country team. After high school I still wanted to run and decided to start doing road races. I have probably ran a couple hundred 5k races (16.29 PR)along with many 10k's as well. In 2009 I decided to step up my game and try to tackle my first marathon. I will be honest; the only reason I did this was because my father ran a few and I wanted to show him that I could do what he did. I trained poorly for my first one and regret it. If you are going to run a race, train like you want to win. I still continue to run marathons and other distances as well, and every race is a chance for me to better myself.
I started this blog to hopefully communicate with other runners and to shed any knowledge I may have about the sport that can help other runners. I believe running is the best sport and can be a great stress reliever. I encourage all runners to spread the word of our sport and show people why running is so good and why the community of runners has such great people. Real Neat Blogger Award Survey

Every once in a while I do a survey so all my readers can get to see a different side of me other than running. Gretchen tagged me to do this one, so here you go.
First the Rules:
1. Put the award logo on your blog
2. Answer 7 questions asked by the person who nominated you
3. Thank the person who nominated you, linking their blog
4. Nominate any number of bloggers you like, linking their blogs
5. Let them know you nominated them

1.) If you weren't happy with yesterday, what would you do to change it?
All in all yesterday wasn't that bad of a day, except for work. I always get a coffee before I go to work and as soon as I got to work I spilled the cup while walking inside. I didn't get to take a lunch because I was so busy dealing with a customer who broke a piece of equipment. I dropped off a lift for my customer in Slippery Rock then caught a call an hour later saying someone was stuck 50 feet in the air in the lift. I had to drive all the way back only to find out the machine was used improperly and some how it managed to blow a motor. After work though I had a great workout and spent the evening watching Orange Is The New Black with my wife.  The only thing I might change is the work day.

2.) What is your favorite book?
Okay I am not much of reader, I find it very hard to pick up a book and start reading. However there are a few books that I have read that once I started reading I couldn't put them down. I really don't have a favorite but anything by Mitch Albom is great. I have read all of his books and I don't know if it is the way he writes or what they are about, but something draws me in when I read them.

3.) What is your biggest success and biggest challenge?
My biggest success would have to be running the New York City Marathon. I didn't hit the time I wanted but the whole experience was awesome. I can say I got to run a race that not many people have run.  My biggest challenge would be, being serious. My wife is always telling me that I don't take anything serious, and for the most part she is right. I have a care free attitude and it takes a lot to get me raddled, but there are times when I need to be more serious.
4.) What does your perfect day look like?
Waking up to a sunny day and stepping outside to a crystal clear beach. I would go for a nice long run then come back and jump into the water. I would be with my wife and we would spend the day sight seeing and trying out local food places. At night I would lay back on the beach with a few beers and just relax.
5.)  What is your favorite memory?
I have so many good memories with so many different people, but my favorite would have to be my wedding day. It was over a year of planning and at times my wife and I were both stressed out, but the day went off without a hitch. Everyone had a blast and praised us for throwing a great wedding. We tried to do some different things to make it more memorable for everyone. We had a cigar bar, popcorn bar, and 2 caricature artist instead of your normal photo booth. The whole day was great.
6.) What is the craziest thing you ever done?
I have done some crazy things, or stupid for a better term so this one is hard to answer. Like Gretchen said in her answer some say a marathon is crazy.  I have gone white water rafting which was awesome, but I think swimming with sharks would be the craziest. I have always been a shark fan so when I had to change to jump in and swim with them I didn't hesitate. Once I was in the water I was scared shitless but it was worth it.

7.)If your life were a movie title what would it be?  Life, Running and Beer..... I feel like this sums up everything in 3 words and If I saw that title I know I would want to see the movie. I don't even need to know who or what it is about, but I am caught by the words.

8.) If you could do anything right now what would it be?
This is easy to answer, I would be a full time runner. I would be getting paid to run or getting paid to do something that involves running.

    1. NYC was unlike any other race I have ever ran. It's one everyone needs to do. The popcorn bar was a huge hit, especially because it was pittsburgh popcorn company

  2. Love your answers! Your wedding sounds so fun and sounds perfect for you! I'm getting married in Belize next year, and one of the activities we're doing is swimming with sharks. I'm so excited to try it!
