Who Am I?

I am an avid runner and have been running since I was 15 years old. I began running low to medium distances while on my high school track team, running the 800 meter and 1600 meter races (I was a sub 5 miler and a 2 minute 800 runner). In addition to the track team, I also joined the cross country team. After high school I still wanted to run and decided to start doing road races. I have probably ran a couple hundred 5k races (16.29 PR)along with many 10k's as well. In 2009 I decided to step up my game and try to tackle my first marathon. I will be honest; the only reason I did this was because my father ran a few and I wanted to show him that I could do what he did. I trained poorly for my first one and regret it. If you are going to run a race, train like you want to win. I still continue to run marathons and other distances as well, and every race is a chance for me to better myself.
I started this blog to hopefully communicate with other runners and to shed any knowledge I may have about the sport that can help other runners. I believe running is the best sport and can be a great stress reliever. I encourage all runners to spread the word of our sport and show people why running is so good and why the community of runners has such great people. Pro Stretch Plus Review

Shin splints, the two words every runner doesn’t want to hear. I have been a person who seems to be plagued by this. What is shin splints you ask? Shin splints refer to the pain along the shin bone. It is very common for runners to feel this pain, and is often caused by changing up your training routine and intensifying your workout. Most of the time ice and rest will reduce the pain. Well if you are like me and are into the peak of a training cycle, you know cutting back is not really an option.

I have been lucky enough to get my hands on a product from Medi-Dyne that has drastically made improvements and alleviated most of my shin pains. The PRO STRETCH PLUS, is a small tool used for increased flexibility in the calves, hamstrings, Achilles tendon, plantar fascia, and the toes. As part as a 2 step system I also received Heel Cups to put into my shoes for added cushion and support.

The idea behind the PRO STRETCH PLUS:

Have you ever sprained an ankle only to find a week later that you’re suffering from lower back pain? Then you’ve experienced first-hand how weak links put undue stress on stronger ones. Weak muscles cause tighter (stronger) muscles to be recruited by the central nervous system in order to perform the same movement. These other muscles are required to pick up the slack so you may not realize pain right away, but they are not made to do double duty for very long so “chain reaction injuries” and muscle imbalance can occur. Conversely, when these links are functioning at peak levels, the performance is maximized.

Improving Strength, Balance, and Flexibility

The best way to treat an injury is to prevent it from happening in the first place! Many injuries can be prevented by improving lower extremity strength, balance and flexibility. PRO STRETCH PLUS is a unique performance enhancement tool specifically designed to allow you to improve all three of these categories while reducing your overall risk of injury.

My experience with it:

I received my box full of goodies and wanted to get started using both products right away. First I tried to use the Heel Cups in my running shoes. Call me weird but I have problems running with anything in my shoes. I prefer shoes with less cushion so adding more cushion just didn’t feel right and when I tried to run I noticed I was focusing on steps instead of my form and breathing. I still wanted use the Heel Cups though and I remembered talking to a friend who would wear his cups in his work boots. I too wear boots to work, even though I spend 80 percent of the day sitting at a desk. The cups made my feet feel a lot better and I noticed my back pains were starting to dwindle. Since the day I have gotten the stretcher I have been using it. It came with a pamphlet showing different stretches to hit different muscle groups. I do certain stretches before my runs and then I do a bit more when I am done. My shin splints have not bothered me on any runs since using this. I use my small target roller on my legs for added support. I will be honest I am a person that hates to stretch. It is something I always would try and get out of, what’s nice is with the PRO STRETCH PLUS I can stretch and it doesn’t feel like such a burden. With a race just a few weeks away I am really happy I was able to use these products.

  1. I hate to stretch too, but I use my pro stretch all the time. My calves tend to get really really tight. This helps. Glad you are enjoying them!
