Happy Friday my friends and welcome to another edition of Random Friday. If you are new this is how this works, I use Friday as a day to escape running and talk about whatever the hell I want. It’s always my opinion and I am not saying it is ever right or wrong. I gladly will accept any rebuttals and will not judge you in any way. We are all friends here and there is nothing wrong with a little friendly back and forth banter.
For the next year we will all be subjected to hearing pitch after pitch on why “I” should be the president of the United States. I am not into politics all like that, like most people I just sit back and watch from the sidelines and cast my vote. This year though I have been more proactive in watching the debates and reading up on the candidates. I guess as I get older I am realizing whoever is in charge could play a huge effect on my life. This year though I also realized why I hate politics so much and why I hate the media. The first glimpse I realized shit wasn’t right was at the first Republican debate. Like most people I tuned in to hear what Donald Trump had to say. What I saw was a bunch of name calling from the candidates and a Fox News reporter who seemed to have it out for Trump. The second debate was no different from the first except it seemed like there was more back and forth bickering than actually answering questions. At one point Chris Christie even jumped in and said I don’t think the public wants to hear this name calling and wants answers about how we can change America. I remember watching it and thinking to myself I feel like I am watching a bunch of guys sitting in a room arguing over who has the biggest dick. I will admit sometimes I was amused with the way Trump would come back at another candidate or the way he would bring up how he was in the lead on all the polls. What I really wanted to hear though was how any of these candidates were going to help us. Let’s face it America is broke right now and someone needs to step in and fix it. I want to hear your plan of action not you telling me the other guy is a liar. I want to hear how you are going to make our life easier not you telling me that other guy’sfamily is broken. I mean could you imagine that you are at work and you and a co-worker are both going for a higher position in the company. Let’s call the co-worker Jimmy for the story. So you get called into your boss’s office and he says tell me what you are going to do to make this company better, and your answer is “well Jimmy’s sister is a whore who sleeps around and Jimmy once smoked weed as a teenager.” Your boss would look at you like you are mental, yet these fools are doing the exact same thing and we just sit back and enjoy the show. I blame the media for candidates not answering the questions honestly. Ben Carson proved this week that no matter how you answer a question the media is going to twist what you say and make you look bad. Mr. Carson was asked what he would do if he was in the situation of a mass shooting. The answer Carson gave was, he would unite the people to go after the shooter. Funny because when someone asks me that question I always say I would try and get the others to go after the person with me. Apparently the answer the media wanted to hear though was that he would do nothing or just wait to be killed, because now they are saying Carson was not showing remorse to the victims for not doing that. He answered the question honestly. Don’t fucking ask a person a question and get mad when they speak the truth. I could go on and on about how the media is a huge problem in this country but that is another post for another day. I will end this post on this. If the media didn’t twist what a candidate said then they would have no reason to not answer a question truthfully, or at least answer the question. We all know they are going to lie to us anyway just to get our vote, but at least make me feel like you give you shit on what we need.
Oh my goodness, I hear you! And we have a whole year ahead of this back and forth mudslinging crap. It's ridiculous trying to filter through the childish "he said, she said" banter and get to the facts of the matter. I agree with you, I want to hear what you plan to actually DO as President. I don't care if you think the guy next to you is an asshat and the million reasons why. Let me figure that out on my own. Give me your game plan!
