Who Am I?

I am an avid runner and have been running since I was 15 years old. I began running low to medium distances while on my high school track team, running the 800 meter and 1600 meter races (I was a sub 5 miler and a 2 minute 800 runner). In addition to the track team, I also joined the cross country team. After high school I still wanted to run and decided to start doing road races. I have probably ran a couple hundred 5k races (16.29 PR)along with many 10k's as well. In 2009 I decided to step up my game and try to tackle my first marathon. I will be honest; the only reason I did this was because my father ran a few and I wanted to show him that I could do what he did. I trained poorly for my first one and regret it. If you are going to run a race, train like you want to win. I still continue to run marathons and other distances as well, and every race is a chance for me to better myself.
I started this blog to hopefully communicate with other runners and to shed any knowledge I may have about the sport that can help other runners. I believe running is the best sport and can be a great stress reliever. I encourage all runners to spread the word of our sport and show people why running is so good and why the community of runners has such great people. Useless Thoughts

A few months back I was using Friday’s to go on little rants about whatever was bothering me. I will be honest recently I have nothing to go on a rant about. I could bitch and moan about the weather like everyone else, but what fun is that? So I came with a new little idea that will take our minds off running just for a bit. Whenever I don’t have anything to rant about I will discuss what the big news on the internet is. Only I will give you my interpretation of things. So be ready for no validity, and mainly me just throwing crazy ideas out there for your amusement.

Last week it was “The Dress” that had the internet in an uproar. I mean how is that one little dress could have caused such a big fuss? Literally households were divided, couples weren’t talking, and people were ready to come to throwing fists over the color of that dress. There hasn’t been that much controversy over a dress since Bill Clinton was in office. This week we are blessed with animals. The first story I saw was this pit bull dog that weighs 175 lbs. HOLY SHIT!!! If I saw this dog unleased I would be locked in the trunk of my car praying to god. Here is the better part though, the dog’s best friend is the family’s 3 year old son. I saw this story around 50 times or so on different social media outlets, and sure as shit someone commented every time with “You’re crazy for letting your son around that dog”. Here is my opinion on this. There is no asshole dogs, just asshole owners. I know quite a bit of people that own pits and these dogs are very loyal. Coincidently the people I know all have kids and these dogs are great with the kids. In fact I would dare you to go and hit one the kids when the dog is around. Like any other animal if the dog is trained wrong it will turn out to be bad. If you neglect the dog it will lash out, but don’t stereotype all dogs. Would I want to own that 175 lb. dog? Hell no, I could see it now the dog catches a glimpse at a cat and takes off and there is my ass being pulled down the street on my belly. I will pass that size dog off to the next guy.

Next we were all smitten over that picture above of the weasel riding on the back of a woodpecker. Everyone was sharing the picture, writing things like “look how cute” only to later find out that more than likely the weasel was trying to eat the woodpecker. I mean is this what we have come too? Only looking for the bad in a situation. Here is a scenario. What if that little weasel was the outcast of all the weasels and that little woodpecker was the outcast of all the birds. These two little guys meet up and befriend each other. The woodpecker tells the weasel get on his back and take a ride. Maybe all of a sudden now that little weasel is king shit in the weasel world for having been the first one to take flight like he was one of the Wright brothers. And maybe now every bird is scared shitless of the little woodpecker that is friends with the enemy that can basically eat him. Haven’t we had our brains beat in with you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover and you shouldn’t assume anything? I mean realistically that bird is probably dead right now, but can’t a guy hope?

Well those are my random useless thoughts on this Friday, feel free to share any of your with me.

  1. HAHA!!! This is great!! I also would not want a dog that large - I start to get nervous when they weigh more than I do. And seriously? That dress?? That thing changed colors before my very eyes....it was crazy!!
I prefer to think of the weasel and the woodpecker as besties like in the Android commercial where all of the random pairs of animals are friends!
