Who Am I?

I am an avid runner and have been running since I was 15 years old. I began running low to medium distances while on my high school track team, running the 800 meter and 1600 meter races (I was a sub 5 miler and a 2 minute 800 runner). In addition to the track team, I also joined the cross country team. After high school I still wanted to run and decided to start doing road races. I have probably ran a couple hundred 5k races (16.29 PR)along with many 10k's as well. In 2009 I decided to step up my game and try to tackle my first marathon. I will be honest; the only reason I did this was because my father ran a few and I wanted to show him that I could do what he did. I trained poorly for my first one and regret it. If you are going to run a race, train like you want to win. I still continue to run marathons and other distances as well, and every race is a chance for me to better myself.
I started this blog to hopefully communicate with other runners and to shed any knowledge I may have about the sport that can help other runners. I believe running is the best sport and can be a great stress reliever. I encourage all runners to spread the word of our sport and show people why running is so good and why the community of runners has such great people. 2Tom's BlisterShield Review

This week and next week I will be reviewing two products from Medi-Dyne. The first product is the 2Tom’s BlisterShield.

No More Pain from Blisters! (Note: this section was taken from the Medi-Dyne web page)
Unconditionally guaranteed, BlisterShield is removed from the skin with soap and water, and is ideal for use in shoes, boots and gloves.

BlisterShield creates an almost frictionless surface on the foot, reducing heat build-up and blister formation. When applied to the foot, this remarkable powder repels moisture….keeping skin dry and blister-free for lengthy periods of activity. BlisterShield significantly reduces discomfort and fatigue, resulting in increased performance and a more pleasurable exercise experience.

Why is BlisterShield Different?

Other “all natural” blister prevention products on the market are derived from plant and animal fats, and function similarly to greases and ointments. Most inorganic powders absorb moisture and reduce friction; however, as they absorb moisture, their effectiveness in reducing friction declines. BlisterShield’s technologically advanced blister prevention formula never loses its effectiveness…. from start to finish.

How to Apply

For best results, wash and thoroughly dry your feet before applying BlisterShield, blister prevention product. Wiping alcohol between toes after drying also helps reduce moisture. Pour one level teaspoonful of BlisterShield into each sock. Shake the socks to spread the powder uniformly. For added blister protection, apply additional BlisterShield behind your heel after the sock is on.

MY REVIEW:

When I received this product I was pretty excited to give it a try. My one foot is a bit wider than the other so I tend to get blisters on the inner part of it. Here’s a bit of tip, read the instructions before doing anything. I however chose to skip the instructions and thought since it was a powder it would be the same as any other powder. I cracked open the bottle and dumped some in my socks. I shook my socks to move the powder around and just threw them on. I did a 6 mile run that day and never once felt any pain. When I got home and removed my socks is when I realized that you don’t need to add so much powder. My shoes which are normally blue were white from the powder. No big deal, it came off with some water and a rag. After reading the directions I noticed you only need a small amount. The next runs went much more smoothly and I am being 100 percent honest when I say I have not had a blister since using the product. I have even worn the BlisterShield on longer runs and still nothing. The only problem I came across is when I dump the spoonful in my socks, it is hard to move the powder around since my socks are tight and compressed a bit. What I have done and it seems to work for me is besides dumping the powder in my socks, I take a bit in my hand and rub it all over my foot. Works like a charm.

I have tried just about every blister relief product on the market and this by far works better than any of the others.

This product can be bought in different sizes and different quantities on the Medi-Dyne site. Also don’t forget to use Promo Code: BASB20 for a 20% Discount!!

  1. Thanks for the tips! I'll have to check it out. For some reason, after 3+ years of running and no blisters, I'm having them pop up all of a sudden.

    1. I have always had them and I can't stand getting them. They have been my downfall later in marathons. I am excited to use this stuff in a month for my half marathon
