If you read my post last week you would know that I was sick and wasn't sure just how training would go this week. At the beginning of the week I still felt pretty bad. I was wheezing pretty bad and had a horrible cough. As much as I wanted to get out and do some running I knew it would do more damage than good. Wednesday was the first day that my throat felt better and I actually could tell my cold was starting to dissipate. However since I have asthma I knew running was still not an option. I did manage to do some light stretching a few days, but I really wanted to just use this week to rest and start fresh this week coming up. I also had a wedding to attend Friday night and the rehearsal dinner on Thursday, so that was at least 2 days I would be losing for any type of training. I am finally about 80 percent back to normal now and today I will be going to the gym to do some light lifting. Tomorrow will be the first day I actually go and run. I will probably play it safe and use the treadmill until I am back to 100 percent. The cold weather and my lungs do not always agree with each other and it can wreak havoc with my asthma. I will not have less than 2 weeks to train for the Turkey Trot 5 miler. I am starting to think a PR may not be doable since the last month has been a lot of weird runs. A marathon followed by 2 weeks rest then a 24 hour run which I did 35 miles followed be getting sick with less than 2 weeks to train. I am not sure how this race will go, but I am going to go for it and see if I can get my PR. Go big or go home I guess. This week I am going to try and get in at least 3 short runs and one long run with some cross training thrown in.
Here are a few pics of the wedding I attended Friday night. It was at the Priory Hotel in Pittsburgh and it was a very nice hall. We ended up getting a room and staying and the hotel had a very old feeling. It was pretty awesome yet pretty scary. Every time I walked around the hall I kept thinking a ghost was going to come out in front of me. I had a great time though and the wedding turned out to be great. I drank some beers, ate some good food, danced, and drank some more. Great time with great people. Here are a few pics of the evening.

Don't think you won't get a PR just yet. You have all your marathon and obstacle course training and races behind you. Go for it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer, I have been think that and hopefully it will carry over for this race.. As long as my lungs hold up I might have a chance
